Bullying is a hot topic for junior high students and parents. Last month, Valley View Junior High participated in the national "Stomp Out Bullying" campaign. Activities were completed during Spartan Time to educate students on bullying behavior -- what it looks like, how it affects others, and ways to respond when students are being bullied.
The following websites are very helpful in terms of educating parents and students about bullying behavior and the best ways to respond:
Stomp Out Bullying
Stop Bullying.gov
The Bully Project
National Crime Prevention Council
In addition to these websites, the following books are also excellent resources on dealing with bullying:
Bullied by Carrie Goldman
Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman
The Bully, The Bullied and the Bystander by Barbara Coloroso
Understanding Girl Bullying and What to do About It
A Smart Kid's Guide to Online Bullying
